Since this CC is such a mess I have decided the best way to explain is with a timeline type list. So here we go:

0. People spend all year prepping for charity corner by hoarding sticky snowballs.

(If you don’t know, sticky snowballs are a big deal. They are marked as ultra rare and worth 8 points in CC but you can buy one every half an hour for only 25 neopoints. People hoard thousands and have alarms set to go off every 30 minutes. Even at work or while sleeping)

image

1. TNT delays charity corner for months because they “want it to be perfect” so people already had high expectations.

2. Charity corner finally starts and people realize they’re only getting 1 single point for sticky snowballs specifically instead of 8. Every other item value is untouched.

3. People become very angry and claim this was done out of spite and TNT hates their userbase.

4. The site is already lagging due to CC. To be petty people start donating thousands and thousands of sticky snowballs to the money tree instead which makes the lag even worse.

5. People finally click on the button to view prizes and realize there are absolutely no perks to buy this year and instead a tiny prize shop of soon to be worthless items. There are also 3 mystery boxes.

6. The mystery boxes? People began opening them.. it turns out there was actually less than a 1% chance of getting a rare item. The items you get could be as low in rarity as r1.

7. There is no mass donation button. You have to manually check off 15 items and you cannot leave the tab as the slow unskippable animation goes on between each donation

8. It was taking hours to donate due to lag and the slow method of doing so

which leads us to...

9. People were spending well over 3 hours to donate enough for one mystery capsule (originally 4500 points)

10. Since sticky snowballs are only worth one point nobody was prepared. They were forced to donate much more expensive items

11. People were wasting hours and extra thousands and thousands of neopoints on new items to donate only to open a mystery capsule and receive one item worth even less than 1000np in return

12. People lose it and begin attacking TNT as well as anyone who defends them

13. Everyone starts cancelling their premium membership and encouraging others to do so too.

14. TNT posts an update on an unofficial discord server well before the actual website.

15. TNT finally posts onsite saying they want to have “open ended dialog” with users then proceed to ignore everyone and punish the people who were criticizing them.

16. As part of the update they decrease the prize shop prices massively and apparently add 1 extra percent to the chance of getting a rare item (no one has yet btw) They also promise to refund points already spent and give everyone an extra 500 points to save their skin.

17. Everyone still spends all night bashing TNT (Especially Tony P.) and  throwing every complaint at them at once. Including multiple other issues such as how they handle the LGBT community and some of the questionable content on the site. A lot of people were frozen and permasilenced.

18. The next day no one has been refunded yet but TNT thought releasing a mobile update on youtube was a bigger priority. People immediately harassed the video until they privated it.

19. More people rage quit, cancelled premium and swore to never buy NC or merch again because TNT was handling things so poorly.

20. TNT finally came out with another statement and refunded points

21. The points refunded disappear as soon as you donate again. Some people didn’t get refunded at all. The extra 500 they promised only showed up for some people and also disappeared for others. People with thousands of points now somehow have negative points.

22. TNT closes the general store, making points much harder to get, especially since no one was prepared this year due to the snowball nerf. (This would have been fine other years, but this year it feels like it was out of spite since it was only closed after users acted out)

23. A few hours later charity corner is semi closed. You can no longer donate the “easy” way. Instead you must click on a single item, have a window pop up, click a button, have the page refresh, close window, refresh again. Repeat for every item.

24. Since TNT can’t communicate properly people are unsure if it’s closed due to a whole new glitch or purposeful closed while they fix the already existing issues. Regardless people are still very angry.

and finally……

25. It’s only been 2 and a half days. CC is supposed to last until the 24th

UPDATE:

26. TNT says the prize shop will stay open indefinitely instead of closing at the end of the event. This means prizes will be worth even less over time.

27. Ironically the prize shop closes in the same manner as quick donations did. Again with no explanation.

28. People began getting spammed with neomails from a fake TNT account trying to grab cookies and account information.

29. The site went down for many hours

30. The negative and 0 prize points were fixed awhile after the site came back but many people still haven’t been refunded or gotten the promised 500.

31. TNT announces Charity corner will be extended to the 28th. That’s 4 extra days. They did not speak on any of the issues and only mentioned it in the news so they can avoid the boards.

32. Users found out that TNT likely mixed up tier 1 mystery capsules with tier 3 capsules. This means the most expensive box actually has the lowest payout rate by accident.

33. Users are now asking for more refunds since they were sold the wrong box at almost 3x the price.

34. Since TNT remains silent people have now began spamming the editorial and tickets regarding the mix up.

35. Everyone is now exploiting the fact the cheapest box mistakenly has a higher payout and buying hundreds. No one is sure if TNT will scorn us more for this but it has caused many arguments.

36. I’m doing better at updating CC information than TNT is.

Please stand by, I’m sure there will be more issues to report on soon

UPDATE #2:

37. TNT still has not mentioned any of the issues in the news. This means users who don’t or can’t use the boards know nothing about what’s happening and have continued wasting points.

38. With no announcement TNT gives everyone who bought the glitched capsules the same amount back. Not the points everyone wanted, just new capsules. Which to be fair, is better than nothing.

39. Finally TNT sends neomails out explaining why the new capsules appeared in people’s inventory.

40. In the neomails they also take credit for finding the mistake even though multiple users did all the calculations on their own and spammed TNT about it for two days. (TNT quote: “Recently, our team uncovered an internal issue that was causing the rarity drop…”)

41. TNT member Gutterfoot addressed Charity Corner and the lack of communication in the editorial but didn’t really address any of the remaining concerns. (Editorial: http://www.neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml?section=editorial&week=913)

(I think Gutterfoot did a fine job and was probably limited with what she could say. It sucks TNT left it all up to her because I’m sure this isn’t her job)

42. Gutterfoot begins answering peoples questions on the boards, though most had little to do with CC (http://www.jellyneo.net/?comments=13576)

43. One of the questions was about why she had updated an unofficial discord server before the website. Apparently her update for the site got caught in the filters due to the word ‘snowballs’ and did not post.

44. The rest of TNT stayed silent for multiple days

45. Users were still (and are) begging TNT to change the odds of the capsules

46. Gutterfoot announces on the neoboards that they will not change the odds. This was not just up to her though.

47. Gutterfoot also says she’d like to do a Q&A this Friday on her own time. However this is not a sure thing. (I would lurk the site event boards this Friday (the 25th) if you’re interested).

48. Most everyone has moved on to screaming about the mutant Vandagyre instead of Charity Corner.

49. Loop back around to 37: As of september 24th TNT still has not made an update in the news despite these issues arising on the 14th-17th.

The End, by Alister Lockhart.

Bruh, if you don’t think that having historically significant events well documented from multiple perspectives is a good thing, then idk what the hell u doin.

Besides, like, that is literally a Giant Monster Rampaging Through The Town. What the fuck is the everyday person gonna do other than Tweet/Instagram/Post about it going “It’s the apocalypse you guys! Eyyyy lmao #apocalypse #deathrising #nofilter”?

#like come on your cellphone may not defeat the beast#but it can gain you like 50000 followers before the skies start raining blood so#who’s the REAL winner here? (via @purplebloodedmajesty)

And heck, even if your own death is inevitable getting information out could help save other people, even if it can’t save you. ‘Here are 20 livestreams of the giant tentacle monster including how it moves and attacks, how can we beat it?’ is way more useful than ‘an entire city got wiped off the map and things smell vaguely of calimari idk man’

reblogging for this perfection: ‘an entire city got wiped off the map and things smell vaguely of calimari idk man’

I personally would be trying to give the Great One flowers and chocolate, but I don’t fault others for watching to get a picture of something so glorious and terrible. 😍

These are photos taken by Robert Landsburg of the eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980. He realized he would never get to safety in time, so he kept taking pictures of the ash cloud for as long as possible. Then he put the camera securely in his bag and lay down on top of it to protect it before being engulfed in the pyroclastic flow. When they found his body, the recovered the pictures were invaluable to geologists because no one had ever been able to document an eruption that close up before.

There are many more such photographs of unimaginable perspectives taken moments before death, only because of the compelling human desire to assert that we were here, this happened, this was real. It’s the most human desire there is - to reach out across time and space to connect with our fellow beings until our last breath.

That’s haunting

I fucking tear up every time I see this post because that’s it. That’s the essence of what it means to be human.

I was here. I explored. I saw this. Remember me.

Fuck

Anyway for enrichment during isolation, try putting a treat for yourself in a toilet paper tube and stuffing newspaper in either side. Then you can watch yourself shred the paper up and get to the treat! :)

Ok but I genuinely have a jar of candy that has melted together and I’ve been spending Hours of my last week trying to dig out pieces of candy with the end of a fork and I feel Immensely satisfied every time I free a chunk .. it works

Thats enrichment babey

it makes me real fucking emo to think of how Iroh always refers to Zuko as “Prince Zuko”. Not out of some false stuck-up sense of formality or to distance himself emotionally or something, but because Zuko has been kicked out of his home by his own father and stripped of his identity, has lost his birthright and nation and entire sense of self in one terrible blow, and all he really has left is his name and title, as defamed and mocked as it is. Iroh is probably the only person in the world to address Zuko as “Prince” and actually mean it. His nephew needs to believe he can return home, needs to maintain some scrap of hope to keep him going. The only time Iroh slips up is and just calls him “Zuko” is when he thinks Zuko’s been killed in the ship explosion.

similarly, it makes me real fucking emo to think of how Zuko only ever calls Iroh “Uncle”. Not Prince, not General, not the Dragon of the West, not even just Iroh – he calls him uncle. Because Iroh is the only member of his family who Zuko trusts enough to let his guard down completely. He knows he won’t be punished for being informal or vulnerable around him, knows that calling him “uncle” will never be misconstrued as a sign of disrespect. Even at his angriest, Zuko addresses Iroh as “Uncle”. In the end, his uncle is the only person with whom he feels truly safe.
